Трансляцию вы можете организовывать как напрямую с вашего компьютера, так и через FTP-сервер (куда первоначально осуществляется upload с вашего компьютера). Не обязательно использование классической web-камеры, вполне работоспособна связка "плата захвата видеосигнала + видеокамера". Захватываемый сигнал вы можете просматривать без установки каких-либо дополнительных плагинов. Более того, при желании вы можете сохранять захваченный сигнал в AVI или MPEG, и даже включать отсылку определённых уведомлений при наличии засекаемых движений перед камерой, что позволяет использовать Active WebCam в качестве реальной системы слежения. Среди дополнительных возможностей предусмотрен вывод списка IP-адресов, с которых пользователи подключались к каналам трансляции сигнала с вашей камеры.
